Gas Fireplaces Vented

You can get gas fireplaces vented and unvented. There are not too many differences between the two kinds of gas fireplaces, but the end results of each is what really matters. How are they different, and what is the important difference between them? Let’s look at them a little closer.

Gas fireplaces are becoming very popular in homes all across America. They are a very easy way to add ambiance to any room. When compared to a real wood fireplace, gas fireplaces are extremely easy to use and maintain. Wood fireplaces create a mess after each fire that needs to be taken care of, and they are a little more dangerous as they can produce sparks that can easily light a home on fire. Gas fireplaces on the other hand are extremely easy to use and care for. They can be as easy to use as a light switch, and do not need to be cleaned after each use.

As I mentioned earlier, there are basically two kinds of gas fireplaces. The two kinds are vented and non-vented. As their names implies, the main difference between them is whether they are vented or not. But, there is a really important reason why some people would want a vented fireplace over a non-vented one.

The main reason that people pick a vented gas fireplace s because they are the ones that can produce the more realistic yellow flame. The yellow flame in the vented gas fireplaces is a far more realistic looking imitation of a real wood fire. This can add to the ambiance of any room, and make it nearly impossible to tell the difference between a good vented fireplace fire and a regular wood fire. The reason that they are vented has to do with how the gas is burned.

When the gas used in gas fireplaces is burned cleanly, it produces a blue flame. This is what you see in non-vented gas fireplaces. However, it is possible to burn gas to get a yellow flame. Basically, you have to burn it less cleanly. This leaves impurities and gives it that realistic yellow flame. Because of the impurities, you need to vent the fireplace to keep the air in your home nice and clean.

Basically, many people pick their gas fireplaces vented over non-vented so they can have the more natural looking yellow flame. This is a far more aesthetically pleasing fire when compared to the blue flame that the unvented fireplaces produce.
